Welcome to the United Nations Joint Programme E-Newsletter

Our quarterly newsletter provides our programme partners and the general public with detailed information on the progress of the Joint Programme. 

The Joint programme is a unique effort to provide better opportunities for women and girls in Turkey by building service capacity for local governments and enhancing collaboration between NGOs and government authorities.

 

VAKSA Grants Programme begins


Hacı Ömer Sabancı Foundation (VAKSA) extends grants to projects under the United Nations Joint Programme to Protect and Promote the Human Rights of Women and Girls.

Hacı Ömer Sabancı Foundation (VAKSA) will extend its grants under the United Nations Joint Programme to Protect and Promote the Human Rights of Women and Girls.The application deadline is 18 May for the VAKSA Grants Programme for projects implementing the principles of Local Equality Action Plans (LEAP) in İzmir, Kars, Nevşehir, Şanlıurfa, Trabzon and Van, the cities where the Joint Programme is implemented.

Applications can be made for projects on following topics:

• Women's participation in local decision making mechanisms,
• Urban services focusing on needs of women and girls,
• Economic empowerment and work life,
• Education and health services,
• Internal migration and poverty,
• Change of mentality and awareness raising,
• Prevention of violence against women.

The following entities may apply for grants under the programme: Non-profit non-governmental organizations and entities, governor’s offices,municipalities, provincial special administrations and associated units, chambers of commerce, industries, professional organizations, universities, institutes, colleges and research centers.
